Callanish Standing Stones (Isle of Lewis) |
The
Callanish Standing Stones (The Galic name
is Calanais) are situated on the on the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides. This is a magical place that I find truly inspirational. Dating back over 4000 years and pre-dating The Pyramids, the Callanish stones rank second in terms of importance only to Stonehenge and are older. These silvery stones are made of Lewisian gneiss and stand on a small hill called 'Cnoc an Tursa' - 'Hill of Sorrow'. |
